Job Summary

 

Support the Director's leadership and vision for all essential components of a Wellness Program, including the design, development, promotion, implementation, supervision, and assessment of programs that incorporate public health theory to address and support student wellness needs. These needs include substance use risk reduction and primary prevention of mental health and interpersonal violence. Establish thorough learning outcomes and strategic planning goals; manage budget; and identify educational needs to achieve a campus culture of wellness.

 

This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise student assistants, including graduate assistant(s), program assistant(s), and interns, and support in advisement, training of student peer educators

• Review and enforce policies and procedures while maintaining and utilizing risk management best practices

• Serve on University and departmental work teams and committees

• Organize and administer a comprehensive wellness program, including programming and education that utilizes Public Health Theory

• Recommend, develop/enhance and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for wellness programming

• Oversee programming and scheduling of wellness initiatives, social norming campaigns, and direct preparation of marketing and educational pieces

• Support in the preparation and management of the annual budget, in addition to grant initiatives

• Prepare and present educational sessions on wellness topics using a health lens

• Collaborate with university areas to create a community that fosters life-long wellness and learning

• Conduct evaluations of the effectiveness of the program and initiate planning studies to assist in determining needs and decision-making

 

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

 

• Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Higher Education Administration, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field

 

Required Experience

 

• Four (4) or more years of related work experience

• Supervisory experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

 

• Current Certified Public Health (CPH) or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential

• Ability to stimulate student and community interest in the programs and services of the department

• Demonstrated competency in addressing health disparities using population health framework

 

Preferred Experience

 

• Experience working in a university setting

• Experience in the design of educational programming

• Experience facilitating large scale programming

• Experience in assessment of programs

• Experience in the preparations and delivery of presentations

 

Proposed Salary

 

$55,126 - $63,700

 

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
