Play Therapist- Part time, LSW
1. Conduct intake sessions with new clients, following the guidelines set by Child Play Therapy, which includes a complete psycho-social assessment and development of a genogram.
2. Provide initial family sessions, if the identified client is a child, to familiarize the child with the playroom and the therapist and gather a better understanding of the family dynamic.
3. Prepare flexible interventions/treatment goals for sessions based on presenting problem, parent input on Weekly Check In form, and treatment modality used (primarily play therapy, CBT, etc.), allowing for continuity of treatment.
4. Conduct individual therapy sessions with the client as scheduled.
5. Provide appropriate clinical documentation after each session, including a diagnosis and methodology used.
6. Develop a detailed treatment plan after 5 sessions in conjunction with the parents as appropriate.
7. Prepare discharge summaries as needed and conduct termination sessions with clients and families whenever possible.
8. Communicate with outside professionals at client/parent request and signed release forms (schools, case workers, medical professionals, etc.) in the best interest of client’s treatment.
9. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional and ethical standards, as well as the policies, standards and regulations of Child Play Therapy and do so to the best of your ability and in the best interest of the client and the company.
10. When not engaged with clients, work on special projects as assigned.
11. Once special projects are implemented, assist or conduct group sessions as scheduled.
Must have:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
- Active LSW license in New Jersey
- Must have passed the NJ licensing exam
- Availability to work late afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends
- Strong interest in working with children and families
