Recreation Coordinator- Senior Center

The City of Auburn is seeking a Senior Center Recreation Coordinator to help develop, organize, and implement programs for one of the best senior centers in the state.

This role gives you an opportunity to shape meaningful experiences for older adults in a vibrant, community-focused environment. You'll be part of a department known for delivering exceptional programs with excellent facilities, from a golf course to a farm and museum, from a newly opened art center to one of the state's best farmer's markets, with more exciting developments on the horizon. 

We are seeking someone who is collaborative, highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities while staying detail-oriented, and passionate about public service.

 

Primary Duties

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: 

  • Design, coordinate, and deliver engaging programs for adults 50+, including classes, trips, sports, and special events.
  • Collaborate with fellow coordinators to develop and enhance citywide senior services.
  • Organize program logistics - from scheduling and staffing, to supplies and program evaluation.
  • Safely transport participants using a 15-passenger van and may even lead group hikes up to 8 miles.

You will play a key role in creating innovative programs that keep Auburn's senior community active, connected, and thriving! You will need to bring your creativity, flexibility, and organizational skills to be successful in this position.

Minimum Qualifications

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in recreation or related field; AND
  • Two (2) years of work experience coordinating and organizing programs and events; 

OR

  • Six (6) years of experience in a related field.

You must also have a valid driver's license without impending loss at the time of appointment, and maintain a valid driver's license throughout your employment.

WE WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience coordinating senior and/or community based programs.
  • Experience operating a 15-passenger van.
  • Experience with staff/volunteer coordination.
  • Experience with budgeting.
  • Experience with recreation software (such as ActiveNet).
