StrongSteps Behavioral Health Foundation is seeking motivated and compassionate students to join our team as Behavioral Health & Care Management Interns. This internship provides hands-on experience in behavioral health services, care coordination, housing navigation, and community-based support programs across New York.

Interns will work alongside care managers and leadership to support individuals facing mental health challenges, housing instability, and other social barriers. This is a great opportunity for students interested in gaining real-world experience in behavioral health, social services, and nonprofit operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with client intake, screenings, and resource navigation
• Support care managers with follow-ups, documentation, and case coordination
• Research housing, food, and community resources for members
• Observe and participate in care planning and case discussions
• Assist with Medicaid waiver program workflows and service coordination
• Support outreach efforts and community-based initiatives
• Help maintain accurate and compliant documentation

Skills & Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a program in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively
• Passion for helping individuals facing mental health and housing challenges
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills (Google Docs, Excel, email, etc.)

Preferred (Not Required)
• Interest in behavioral health or case management careers
• Experience in customer service, healthcare, or community work
• Familiarity with social service systems or Medicaid programs

Internship Details
• Flexible schedule (10–20 hours per week)
• Hybrid / Remote with optional in-person events and outreach
• Semester-based (Summer, Fall, Spring)
• Academic credit may be available (check with your school)
