Position Description: Day Camp Sports Rotation Lead
Status: Seasonal Summer Role
Location: Basking Ridge, NJ
Compensation: $25–$32/hr ( based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Includes required training week

The Candidate Profile
We are looking for an Active Engagement Leader who believes that sports are about more than just the score—they are about movement, confidence, and community. The ideal candidate is a high-energy educator or coach who can turn a standard drill into an epic camp game. You are someone with "big field vision," capable of managing a large group of campers with varying skill levels while maintaining an uncompromised focus on physical safety. You are a motivator who can encourage a reluctant camper to join in and a disciplined leader who ensures transitions are handled with professional poise.

Position Summary
The Day Camp Sports Rotation Lead is responsible for the design and delivery of the athletic experience for our signature day camp groups. This role moves beyond "gym teacher" to become a specialized program leader, ensuring that every sports block is fun, safe, and inclusive. You will lead multiple age groups through rotating activities, adapting your coaching style to meet the developmental needs of campers ranging from Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Core Accountabilities

1. Programming & Activity Leadership

  • Dynamic Instruction: Plan and lead high-energy sports and movement rotations that align with the daily camp schedule and weekly themes.
  • Inclusion & Adaptation: Proactively adapt games and drills to accommodate different skill levels, physical abilities, and social-emotional needs, ensuring every camper feels successful.
  • Curriculum Variety: Curate a mix of traditional team sports, cooperative games, and fitness-based movement to keep the rotation fresh and engaging throughout the 8-week season.

2. Safety & Group Management

  • Active Supervision: Maintain rigorous safety standards during active play, ensuring all campers remain within supervised zones and adhere to proper equipment usage.
  • Transition Stewardship: Support the seamless flow of camp groups as they enter and exit activity spaces (fields, gyms, courts), ensuring no "down time" leads to supervision gaps.
  • Hydration & Health: Monitor camper physical well-being, prioritizing water breaks and shade rotations, especially during high-heat days.

3. Operational Coordination

  • Resource Readiness: Communicate equipment and supply needs to camp leadership in advance to ensure all rotations are staged and "Ready-to-Receive."
  • Schedule Alignment: Partner with the Assistant Director of Program Experience to ensure rotations stay on time and align with the broader campus rhythm.
  • Escalation & Communication: Promptly report any injuries, equipment failures, or persistent behavioral issues to the Site Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Athletic Leadership Experience: Prior experience coaching youth sports, leading PE classes, or managing athletic programming in a camp setting.
  • Group Management Mastery: Strong ability to command the attention of large groups in an outdoor environment while maintaining a positive and encouraging tone.
  • Safety Awareness: A "safety-first" mindset with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks in physical activity zones.
  • Professional Reliability: Exceptional punctuality and the ability to maintain high energy levels throughout a physically demanding summer schedule.

Required Clearances & Onboarding

  • Compliance Hub: You will work with the Summer Employment Operations Manager to complete all digital onboarding and payroll setup via ADP.
  • Clearances: Successful completion of all background checks and NJ Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure releases.
  • Training: Full attendance at the pre-camp training week (beginning June 15th) is required
