Community Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary
The Community Outreach Coordinator strengthens the Roanoke Valley’s capacity to prevent and respond to sexual violence through trauma-informed education, outreach, and community engagement. This position builds and maintains collaborative relationships with community groups, schools, service providers, and local leaders to promote a coordinated community response to sexual violence. The Coordinator develops and facilitates awareness programs, trainings, and outreach activities rooted in best practices and cultural humility. In addition to community education responsibilities, this position provides direct crisis intervention services through the 24-hour hotline, including responding to crisis calls and offering in-person hospital accompaniment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; relevant experience in community outreach, prevention education, or advocacy may substitute.
- Knowledge of sexual violence, trauma-informed practices, and community-based outreach, including an understanding of how sexual violence intersects with other forms of oppression.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort with public speaking, facilitation, and presenting to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational abilities, including planning, time management, documentation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, crisis-responsive environment.
- Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with community members, organizations, schools, multidisciplinary teams, and culturally diverse groups.
- Comfort and competence in providing supportive crisis intervention, including hotline coverage and occasional in-person response.
- Commitment to anti-oppression principles, equity, and community-centered violence prevention.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
