We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized therapy services to children with diverse needs, including those with autism, disabilities, and developmental delays. This role involves working in various settings such as outpatient clinics, schools, home health, and inpatient facilities. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans that promote functional independence and improve quality of life for pediatric patients.

 

Duties

  • Assess and evaluate children's motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities (ADLs) to identify therapy needs.
  • Develop individualized care plans tailored to each child's unique needs, including goals for improving coordination, strength, and functional skills.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions focusing on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory integration, and self-care activities.
  • Assist children with activities related to early intervention programs and school-based therapies.
  • Support discharge planning by preparing families and caregivers for ongoing therapy at home or in community settings.
  • Collaborate with physical therapists, educators, and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document patient progress accurately and maintain detailed records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Educate families on therapeutic techniques and strategies to support continued development outside of sessions.
  • Participate in case management activities to coordinate services across different providers and settings.
  • Stay current with advances in pediatric occupational therapy practices, physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and anatomy.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist specializing in pediatrics.
  • Proven experience working with children with autism, disabilities, or developmental delays in outpatient clinics, schools, or home health environments.
  • Experience with acute care settings such as ICU or inpatient units is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of post-acute care processes and skilled nursing facility protocols is preferred.
  • Familiarity with early intervention programs and school-based therapy services is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and patient care principles relevant to pediatrics.
  • Excellent communication skills for working effectively with children, families, educators, and healthcare teams.
