Registered Nurse Senior

State Hospital South (SHS) Patient Treatment Facility (PTF) in Blackfoot is seeking a Registered Nurse, Senior/House Supervisor who is caring and has a passion for helping others. SHS is in beautiful Southeast Idaho, an area best known for Oregon Trail and Native American history, amazing fly fishing, towering mountain peaks with abundant wildlife, and awe-inspiring geological sites. SHS PTF is a 110-bed psychiatric facility that provides adult mental health services. It maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients. Our mission statement is to provide all persons who have a serious mental illness, including co-occurring disorders, a safe and healthy environment for growth, recovery, and inclusion in their community.

 

This is an ongoing announcement which means at the time applicants apply, we may or may not have an opening. Those applicants that take and pass the exam to show they meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on the referral list. When a position becomes available, the hiring supervisor will then directly contact those applicants they wish to interview off the referral list.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Performs lead professional nursing within a specialized program with responsibility for staff and program oversight.
  • Communicates with various levels of Hospital administration during critical events.
  • Describes patient status to physician and implements orders for medication and/or treatment; advises maintenance staff regarding physical plant problems.
  • Nursing areas of specialty include psychosocial rehabilitation, chemical dependency, home health, public health, Medicaid review, staff development, and facility administrative charge.
  • Planning, conducting and organizing public/community health programs.
  • Liaison and public relations support with community agencies, law enforcement, families, hospitals, and other health-care facilities
  • Monitoring of staffing and scheduling throughout the facility.
  • Providing and overseeing home health service delivery.
  • Conducting on-site Medicaid reviews.
  • Serving as administrative nurse for an entire facility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

 

  • Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418.For licensure information, please contact the Idaho Board of Nursing at http://ibn.idaho.gov or call (208) 577-2476.
  • Experience performing nursing assessments and developing and implementing nursing care plans. Typically gained by at least six months work experience.
