Landing Overnight Specialist
Summary:
Supervise children and volunteers at Skookum Kids’ emergency children’s shelter “The Landing” during overnight hours.
Reports To: Program Manager of The Landing
Qualifications:
- General affability and capacity to engage with people from all walks of life
- Ability to confidently de-escalate children in crisis
- Access to reliable transportation
- Aspiration to embody the values of Skookum Kids
- Flexibility to work unanticipated or long hours during scheduled on-call days
- Degree in social work or a closely related field OR 3 years of childcare experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Remain awake and alert during overnight Landing shifts (12am-8am) while children are present
- Create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for children, social workers, and volunteers.
- Answer intake calls and make appropriate placement decisions.
- Welcome children to The Landing and ensure intake procedures are completed
- Ensure The Landing is set up for success for the following day (laundry, paperwork, discharge procedures, light cleaning)
- Assist Program Manager in various admin tasks
Hours: Part-time 10-24 hours/week
2-3 Overnight shifts/week (Midnight-8am)
Compensation:
On-call pay: $5.25/hour
On-site pay: $21/hour
