Medical Patient Care Representative

Southside Community Health Services (SCHS) is seeking a Medical Patient Care Representative to support efficient clinic operations and provide excellent front-line customer service for our patients. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth patient flow, supporting access to care, and creating a welcoming experience for the diverse South Minneapolis community we serve.

About the Role

The Medical Patient Care Representative serves as a key point of contact for patients, assisting with appointment scheduling, registration, and front-desk operations. This position helps ensure accurate patient information, verifies insurance coverage, and collects payments while supporting efficient clinic workflows and a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer clinic phones, provide information, and route messages as appropriate
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments while supporting efficient clinic flow
• Complete pre-visit processes prior to scheduled patient appointments
• Greet patients, update registration information, and assist new patients with registration forms
• Verify insurance information and collect co-pays or fees at the time of service
• Identify opportunities for patients to connect with enabling services such as Patient Advocates
• Maintain an organized and welcoming front office environment
• Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and clinic initiatives
• Provide interpretation support if designated as a qualified interpreter
• Assist with other duties as assigned to support clinic operations

Qualifications

• Training or experience as a receptionist with appointment scheduling responsibilities
• Experience with electronic health record systems (EPIC preferred)
• Strong computer skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or Somali) preferred
