Part-Time Housing Aid (Weekends)
Join ACE as a Part-Time Housing Aid (Weekends) and play a vital role in supporting justice-impacted individuals transitioning back into the community. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for male residents participating in the House of RUTH reentry transitional housing program. You will support weekend operations by supervising residents, monitoring activities, conducting life skills groups, enforcing house rules, documenting incidents, and providing general support to residents and program staff to promote accountability, stability, and successful reintegration.
The House of RUTH provides safe, structured transitional housing for adults impacted by the justice system. The program supports participants through daily residential supervision, life skills development, and individualized housing, career, and financial planning. By offering housing as a supportive service, along with guidance and accountability, the House of RUTH helps residents build stability, transition into permanent housing, and successfully reintegrate into the community.
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with an hour lunch
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Encourage positive behavior, personal responsibility, and adherence with program expectations.
- Assist with participant discharge planning, transitions, and documentation, including aftercare referrals.
- Arrange and participate in family, service, and team meetings.
- Transport participants as needed to meet program goals.
- Coordinate and communicate with external stakeholders, including parole/probation officers, courts, treatment providers, employers, and community partners, as appropriate.
- Respond appropriately to participant crises, conflicts, or behavioral concerns using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques; document and report incidents per organizational policy.
- Maintain required training for and supervise self-administration of medication according to protocols and procedures.
- Support occupancy expectations for housing contracts; implement move-in/move-out process in coordination with the Assistant Housing Manager and Reentry Program Manager.
- Support day-to-day residential operations of the House, including: Group meeting facilitation, Bedroom checks, Weekend pass administration, Cleaning, Cooking, Grocery Shopping, etc.
- Supervise residents’ activities and monitor resident sign-in/sign-out logs to verify presence and to ensure safety, attendance at activities, completion of chores, personal hygiene, and compliance with curfew requirements.
- Conduct routine facility walk-throughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with housing standards; report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Conduct curfew checks and bed checks while enforcing house rules, visitor policies, quiet hours, and other residential program expectations to ensure compliance and maintain safety procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Provide shift updates and written handoff notes to incoming staff to ensure continuity of supervision and communication.
- Respond to facility emergencies according to program safety procedures and notify supervisor or emergency services when required.
- Assist with inventory tracking and distribution of program supplies, including hygiene items, food, linens, and household materials.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, including case notes, incident reports, attendance logs, and progress documentation, in accordance with program and funder requirements.
- Enter data into all participant databases and assist with periodic program reporting.
- Maintain professional, ethical relationships with program staff, clients, and the public.
- Support coverage for evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of housing services approaches, resources, best practices, and tools.
- Willingness to work flexible hours for on-call support, crisis response, evenings, and weekends when necessary and as scheduled.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in social work/mental health or in a relevant field or 2 years of re-entry work experience; or
- Equivalent combination of training and experience
- Spanish language skills, verbal and written preferred
- Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance on a reliable vehicle available to use for work purposes.
- Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check
- Initial TB employment clearance required
- Lived experience of incarceration, close impact, or institutionalization a plus
- Due to the nature of this role and its support of participants impacted by substance use disorders (SUD), this position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with organizational policies.
The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $28.85 hourly. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
