School Psychologist

Central Greene School District (CGSD) is a 1400+ student rural school district in Greene County near the PA-WV border, situated between Pittsburgh, PA and Morgantown, WV.

Position Title: School Psychologist 
Reports To: Director of Pupil Services / Building Principal
Work Year: Per negotiated agreement

Position Summary

The School Psychologist supports students’ academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral success through assessment, consultation, intervention, and collaboration with a growth mindset. The School Psychologist works as part of the multidisciplinary educational team to ensure equitable access to learning and compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education and student services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assessment & Evaluation

Conduct evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services, gifted services and Section 504 support in accordance with IDEA, federal and state regulations; Administer and interpret cognitive, academic, behavioral, adaptive, and social-emotional assessments; Prepare comprehensive written reports and present findings to multidisciplinary teams; Participate in eligibility, IEP, and 504 meetings as required.

Consultation & Collaboration

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to design and implement academic and behavioral interventions; Provide consultation regarding classroom management, instructional strategies, and differentiation; Support data-based decision-making within Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and/or Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks; Serve as a resource to staff regarding mental health, behavior management, and learning needs; Participate in staff training (e.g., in-service sessions) 

Direct & Indirect Student Services

Provide individual and group counseling/interventions related to school-based concerns (e.g., anxiety, behavior regulation, social skills, crisis support) ; Assist in the development and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs); Support crisis prevention and response efforts within the school setting; Promote positive school climate initiatives and social-emotional learning (SEL) and building level PBIS

 

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines; Ensure adherence to evaluation timelines and procedural safeguards; Participate in professional development and required district training.

Professional Responsibilities

Adhere to ethical standards set forth by NASP and state certification/licensure boards; Engage in ongoing professional growth and continuing education; Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and district initiatives as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement; Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position and negotiated agreement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum Master’s and Specialist-level degree (Ed.S., CAGS, or equivalent) in School Psychology.
  • A valid Pennsylvania Department of Education 1875-School Psychologist PK-12 certificate pursuant to PDE CSPG 81 School Psychologist PK-12.
  • Knowledge of special education law, IDEA, Section 504, and MTSS frameworks within PA and NASP guidelines for best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced skill in administering, scoring, and interpreting evaluation results
  • Experience with providing behavioral and SEL interventions or willingness to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with individuals, agencies, community and state organizations.
  • Prior experience of working with children and youth 

Preferred

Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP); Experience in K–12 public school settings; Bilingual skills; Doctorate (PhD, PsyD, EdD in school psychology or related field) and/or 3 years of experience as a practicing school psychologist; Experience with professional presentations for stakeholders

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of psychological principles, child development, learning theory, and behavior science; Skilled in advanced data analysis and interpretation; Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain confidentiality; Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods and use assessment tools and technology; Ability to move between school sites as assigned; Ability to respond to crisis situations as needed.

Terms of Employment

  • Salary is dependent on experience, education, and certifications. Benefits, work year, and work expectations are in line with district provisions (health, vision, and dental benefits and retirement and life insurance options).
  • Evaluation of performance will be conducted in accordance with district policy and the negotiated agreement.
  • State mandated clearances including Act 126, 34, 151, and 114
  • TB test and physical will be required upon hire
  • Copies of transcripts and certificates/licenses 
  • 3 letters of reference
