Upward Bound Program Coordinator (LOA)

 

This is a temporary, part-time (38 hours/week) position with benefits. Training and access will be provided. Work equipment will also be provided. The salary for this position will be $48,000.

The UNLV TRIO Upward Bound program prepares young people in grades 9 through 12 by strengthening math, science, English, and foreign language skills. The program provides eligible participants with the skills necessary to successfully pursue and complete post-secondary education. 

Upward Bound Program Coordinator - Job Functions

  • Provide career, academic and financial counseling and referrals for program participants
  • Maintain needed program records and documentation of services provided
  • Maintain, review, and evaluate student progress reports
  • Submit periodic services evaluations and/or recommendations to the Program Director
  • Establish working relationships with University faculty and staff for the purpose of referrals and gaining and disseminating needed information on program participants
  • Assist with special projects

Qualifications

Education: Minimum--Bachelor's degree; Preferred--Major in Education or related field

Requirements: 

Minimum--Ability to pass a CCSD Background Check, ability to drive and maintain a valid Driver's Licence, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail; advanced computer skills (Google Docs, Canvas, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite). The incumbent must be able to work on Saturdays. 

Preferred--Prior TRIO or related experience; advising and counseling secondary students, working with low-income and first-generation students, experience in/working knowledge of CCSD, experience with financial aid and college admissions, and experience with remote services and content delivery through Canvas and Google platforms, ability to relate to students/instructors/counselors/administrators in a positive manner, ability to speak Spanish.
