Employment Hours: Shifts available include days (8am – 4pm) and evenings (12pm – 8pm); all shifts include weekend coverage. Rotating On-Call phone coverage.

Program Summary: The Safe Options Support (SOS) Program at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) provides comprehensive, housing-focused support to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness across Long Island. Rooted in the Critical Time Intervention (CTI) model—an evidence-based, time-limited approach—the program helps participants navigate critical life transitions by promoting stability, community integration, and long-term housing retention.

Through intensive case management and person-centered engagement, the SOS program supports individuals and families as they transition from homelessness to permanent housing. Services are trauma-informed and recovery-oriented, emphasizing empowerment, harm reduction, and collaboration. The SOS team works in close partnership with community organizations, shelters, hospitals, and government agencies to coordinate resources and ensure continuity of care across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The SOS-CTI team operates 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Holiday coverage is required as part of team scheduling.

Position Summary: The SOS-CTI Program Supervisor provides leadership, clinical oversight, and support to a team of Street Outreach Specialists/Case Managers and Peer Counselors. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, housing-focused case management services consistent with the CTI model and LICH’s trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework. Reporting to the SOS-CTI Team Leader/Program Coordinator, the Supervisor is responsible for staff supervision, case consultation, quality assurance, and coordination of participant services. The position includes both office-based and field-based work, with a focus on supporting staff in their engagement efforts and maintaining fidelity to program and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to Street Outreach Specialists/Case Managers and Peer Counselors.
  • Conduct field supervision visits to observe and strengthen outreach and engagement practices.
  • Review and approve case notes, documentation, and service plans for accuracy and adherence to the CTI model.
  • Facilitate regular individual and group supervision meetings and weekly case conferencing to review progress and coordinate care.
  • Support staff with crisis intervention, participant engagement challenges, and coordination of services.
  • Complete and oversee all housing-related applications and behavioral health assessments, ensuring documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and submitted promptly to support participant housing eligibility and placement.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader/Program Coordinator on program planning, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Review program data and outcome measures to ensure quality improvement and compliance with funder requirements.
  • Provide clinical input and guidance on participant assessments, housing transitions, and linkage to behavioral health or medical services.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new staff to ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Participate in community meetings, interagency collaborations, and learning community initiatives related to SOS program development.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an active New York State license as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and have a minimum of three years of experience in behavioral health, homeless services, or a related human services field. Supervisory experience is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with experience in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing. Familiarity with the Critical Time Intervention (CTI) model is preferred. Applicants who have completed an accredited MSW program and are eligible to sit for the New York State LMSW exam will also be considered, with the expectation that the LMSW license is obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Work Location & Travel: This position is field-based and requires travel throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Staff are expected to be highly mobile and may spend the majority of the workday in the community conducting outreach, transporting participants, or attending appointments. Agency vehicles are available for program use. A valid driver’s license and ability to drive are required.

Physical Demands: This position requires frequent walking, standing, and extensive community-based field work throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Staff must be able to navigate outdoor environments in varying weather conditions and terrain. The role also requires the ability to sit for extended periods while completing documentation and data entry. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including outreach supplies or participant belongings, and safely operate a motor vehicle as part of regular job duties.
