Patient & Donor Engagement Specialist

Atlanta Blood Services (ABS) in partnership with Blood & Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia (BMTGA) supporting Northside Hospital. Position Overview

Atlanta Blood Services is seeking a Patient & Donor Engagement Specialist to support life-saving platelet donation programs for patients undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplant through the Blood & Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia, to NSH and other area hospitals.

This role is highly relational and mission driven. You will work directly with patients, families, caregivers, donors, and community partners to educate, engage, and grow a strong platelet donor base that ensures patients receive the support they need throughout treatment and recovery. Location- Sandy Springs, GA in-person at our main location.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, standard business hours
• Flexibility for occasional after-hours or weekend events

Key Responsibilities

Patient & Family Engagement

• Meet with patients, families, and caregivers to explain the critical role platelets play in treatment and recovery
• Provide education and encouragement to help patients mobilize their personal networks (family, friends, coworkers, community groups)
• Maintain ongoing follow-up with patients and families to support sustained donor engagement

Donor Outreach & Relationship Building

• Recruit, schedule, and retain platelet/apheresis donors
• Identify and cultivate new donor sources through relationship-based outreach
• Promote donor recognition programs, milestones, and seasonal campaigns
• Ensure donors feel valued, informed, and supported throughout their experience

Community & Organizational Outreach

• Build partnerships with community organizations, faith-based groups, and local businesses
• Represent ABS and BMTGA at appropriate community events
• Assist with patient- and family-centered events designed to encourage donor participation

Donor & Patient Experience

• Deliver compassionate, professional, and responsive service
• Serve as a trusted point of contact for donors, patients, and families
• Positively represent the mission and values of ABS and BMTGA

Collaboration & Operational Support

• Work collaboratively with the donor recruitment team, donor services, and ABS team toward shared goals
• Assist with daily operations as needed, including answering calls, scheduling appointments, greeting donors, and follow-ups
• Maintain flexibility in work hours to meet patient and organizational needs

Quality & Documentation

• Accurately document all outreach, donor engagement, and follow-up activities
• Follow all ABS and BMTGA policies, procedures, and SOPs
• Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts

• Genuine passion for supporting patients, families, and life-saving donor programs
