Psychology Practice Assistant (Summer internship)

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, professional Psychology Practice Assistant Intern to support a small private psychology practice during the summer. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student who wants real-world exposure to how a private practice operates behind the scenes while learning more about child psychology, psychological assessment, client communication, and day-to-day administrative operations.

Because this is a small practice, the intern will have the opportunity to see and support many aspects of the business—not just one narrow task. This role is ideal for a student who is interested in private practice, child/adolescent psychology, assessment-based work, and the operational side of running a professional office.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with general administrative and office support tasks
  • Help organize files, documents, and internal materials
  • Support documentation of office procedures and workflows for future employees
  • Assist with improving organization and efficiency of day-to-day practice operations
  • Help prepare and maintain professional resources, forms, and process documents
  • Provide general support with scheduling, communication, and practice coordination as needed
  • Observe and learn how a small private psychology practice is structured and managed

What You’ll Learn

  • How a small private practice runs on both the clinical and business side
  • Best practices for professional documentation and office organization
  • Exposure to the structure of psychological services in a private practice setting
  • Insight into child-focused psychology, assessment processes, and client support workflows
  • Practical experience that can help prepare you for graduate school or a future career in psychology, counseling, education, or healthcare administration

Qualifications

  • Current junior or senior in college
  • Pursuing a degree in Psychology or a closely related field
  • Strong interest in child psychology and private practice
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Professional communication skills
  • Able to handle sensitive information with maturity and discretion
  • Comfortable working independently in a small-office environment
  • Eager to learn, help, and take initiative

Why This Internship Stands Out
This is a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure in a small, specialized practice where you can learn far more than typical front-desk duties. You will gain firsthand insight into both the administrative systems and real-world operations that make a private psychology practice successful—valuable experience for any student considering a future in psychology or eventually running their own practice.

Compensation

$14.00–$19.00 per hour, based on experience and fit
