Adolescent Drug & Alcohol Counselor

About the Role

As an Adolescent Drug & Alcohol Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting youth involved with the juvenile court system. This position focuses on providing individual, family and group counseling to adolescents struggling with substance use, while fostering a safe, supportive, and restorative environment.

You will:

  • Deliver counseling to youth and families in their homes and community settings.
  • Facilitate group sessions that promote sobriety, accountability, and positive decision-making at the Mechanicsburg office.
  • Collaborate with community partners, treatment team, probation officers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document client progress in an electronic health record system and maintain compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development at our Bethlehem, PA training center.
  • Most of your time during the school year will be working in the early evening hours.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (preferred); OR Bachelor's degree with experience
  • Experience working with adolescents, preferably those involved in the juvenile justice system.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport with youth and families.
  • Ability to be flexible, planful, and supportive in balancing multiple responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of substance use treatment approaches and restorative practices is a plus.
  • Flexibility to adapt to diverse backgrounds and needs.
