Job Description
Fiver is seeking a Staff Support Specialist to provide social and emotional support to staff members at Camp Fiver. The Staff Support Specialist should offer a listening ear and guidance to camp staff as needed in addition to conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings in order to address any concerns.
Candidates for the Staff Support Specialist role must have a high level of empathy and understanding as well as possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with various groups of people to best foster a positive work environment. They should have strong organizational skills, coordination abilities, and be comfortable facilitating training. Flexibility and availability to respond to staff needs and foster a positive work environment are also key for success in this role
Key Responsibilities
● Coordinate morale-boosting activities for staff, including team-building exercises, appreciation events and staff outings.
● Serve as a liaison between staff and leadership, effectively communicating staff needs, concerns, and suggestions to fellow leadership team members
● Maintain cleanliness and create a welcoming atmosphere in the staff lounge area, including scheduling cleaning duties and ensuring adequate supplies
● Manage inventory and replenishment of supplies at the staff house in town, ensuring staff have access to necessary items for the comfort and well-being.
● Provide support at the staff house, addressing and emergent needs or issues that may arise and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for staff members.
● Develop and implement in-service training programs to enhance staff skills, promote professional development, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
● Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions for staff, covering topics such as communication techniques, conflict resolution, stress management, and self-care.
● Collaborate with the Camp Director to identify training needs and develop training to address specific areas of improvement or growth within the team.
● Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives through feedback mechanisms and performance assessments.
● Serve as a key member of the leadership team, collaborating with fellow leadership team members to enhance and support the Fiver mission and contribute to the overall success of the team.
Qualifications
● At least 20 years old by June 2026
● One year post high school experience working with children preferred
● Education or background experience in Social work or Helping Profession
During their experience at Camp Fiver, the Staff Support Specialist will gain many transferable skills such as leadership, effective communication, time management, strategic thinking, behavior management and youth development best practices.
Fiver offers a $100 referral bonus in the first paycheck for every counselor/staff member that you refer, is hired, & arrives at camp for staff training.
Located in beautiful Upstate New York, Camp Fiver is a four-hour trip from New York City and is 45 minutes southeast of Syracuse. Camp Fiver’s 129-acre property includes a lake, a river, woodlands, a learning center, dining hall, horse barn and more. Counselors live at Camp Fiver for all 4, 12-day sessions (off days will be discussed thoroughly during staff training) including one and a half weeks of training prior to camp.
