High School Counselor

The Keokuk Community School District is seeking a highly motivated school counseling professional to support the academic, social/emotional, and post-secondary development of high school students in order to enhance student success, promote overall school effectiveness, and maximize educational and career opportunities available to each student.

The High School Guidance Counselor will implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with best practices outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), including academic planning, college and career readiness, social/emotional support, and crisis response services.

The successful candidate will collaborate with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to create an environment that fosters student growth, personal responsibility, and future planning. The counselor will assist students with course selection, graduation requirements, post-secondary planning, scholarship and financial aid guidance, and individual goal setting.

Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for an Iowa School Counselor license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BoEE);
Must demonstrate knowledge of Iowa graduation requirements and post-secondary planning processes;
Must maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment;
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a collaborative team;
Must be able to perform those duties required of all licensed school counselors.
