Wellness Internship - Intramurals

Reports to: Assistant Dean of Wellness Services
Location: Wellness Services, Buchanan Kiewit Wellness Center
Objectives:
Develop skills needed to create oversee and evaluate wellness intramural and recreation programs
Duties
Gain a broad understanding of the wellness needs of the campus and evaluate effectiveness of wellness programming. Work with wellness services staff to understand issues and learn best practices.
- Manage the marketing and promotion of all intramural and recreation programming including social media and printed materials
- Survey campus needs and interests regarding intramural programming and evaluate effectiveness
- Create, implement, oversee intramural leagues and one day events
- Assist in the program development and marketing of intramural programs
- Assist the advising and support the coordination and implementation of the Wellness Services programs and activities.
- Meet regularly with students interested in wellness
- Collaborate with Residential Education and Student Life
- Attend regional workshops and professional meetings on behalf of the university upon request.
Working Relationships
Will exist with other members of Wellness Services, Residential Education and student life staff. Frequent interaction with students, faculty and staff interested in wellness, intramurals and recreation.
HOURS
This position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week Monday - Friday. Days and times per week are flexible, may have hours that fall outside of 9:00am and 4:30pm.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and understanding of wellness issues, especially as they related to campus culture
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of assigned projects
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to think creatively and willingness to be flexible
