Equipment Manager Intern

Internship Overview
Sporting JAX Soccer Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and physically capable individual to join our Team Operations staff as an Equipment Manager Intern. This hands-on opportunity offers valuable behind-the-scenes experience with a professional sports organization, supporting the organization, maintenance, inventory, and transportation of team equipment and apparel during training sessions and matchdays. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring locker rooms and technical areas are organized and meet professional standards for both home and away fixtures. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in careers in equipment management, team operations, or athletic logistics within professional sports.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Assist with the setup, breakdown, and organization of all training and matchday equipment
• Manage and track inventory of gear, including uniforms, balls, bibs, cones, hydration supplies, and medical kits
• Prepare locker rooms and technical areas for both training and matches (home and away)
• Assist with laundering, labeling, folding, and packing team gear to meet league standards
• Transport and unload/load team equipment between training locations and stadium
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, damaged gear, and equipment checkouts
• Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic trainers, and operations team to fulfill equipment and logistical needs
  
   

Qualifications

 

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Sports Management, Kinesiology, or related academic program
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Team-first mindset with a strong work ethic, punctuality, and accountability
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and all home games
• Familiarity with soccer and soccer equipment is preferred but not required
  
   

Physical Requirements

 

• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods during training and matchdays
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to load and unload equipment from storage spaces, vehicles, and field setups
  
   

Internship Details

 

• Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, variable based on match and training schedule

Learning Outcomes

 

• Develop first-hand experience managing the daily logistics of a professional soccer team
• Learn the operational demands and protocols of a high-performance sports environment
• Strengthen time management, inventory control, and communication skills
• Serve as a key liaison between technical staff and team operations
