Social Media Intern (Paid)

About Babel Institute

Babel Institute is an independent, nonpartisan public policy think tank dedicated to advancing practical policy solutions to the political, economic, and social challenges facing young people around the world. Our regional studies program, which cover the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, conduct research and analysis on key policy issues affecting the youth in their respective regions.

We are looking to expand our communications and digital presence as we move closer to our January 2026 launch date. The Social Media Intern will help support this work by assisting with our digital platforms and contributing to clear and consistent messaging across channels.

Responsibilities

  • Help create and publish content on Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Facebook.
    Draft captions and short copy for posts tied to programs, announcements, research, and events.
  • Assist with simple graphics and short-form video content for director introductions, program updates, and Verity Voices Journal content.
  • Develop and maintain a regular posting schedule and keep social media content organized.
  • Track basic analytics to understand what performs well and suggest improvements.
  • Stay informed about youth issues, global affairs, and policy conversations to help identify timely content ideas.
  • Coordinate with program staff and directors to highlight their work and ongoing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Prior experience managing social media accounts or creating digital content.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to adapt tone for different platforms.
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe tools, or similar design platforms is required.
  • Interest in public policy, global affairs, education, or social impact is a plus.

Compensation

This internship is compensated through a stipend valued at two thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400), which is equivalent to approximately twenty dollars ($20) per hour based on the expected workload for the entire spring 2026 internship. The final stipend payment schedule will be determined in consultation with the selected candidate. This is not an hourly wage position.

Time Commitment

The expected time commitment for this internship is approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and can be arranged to accommodate academic commitments.
