PHYSICAL THERAPIST
JOB GOAL: To facilitate the development and performance of everyday self-care, pre-academic and pre-vocational activities for eligible disabled students.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: • Education Level: bachelor’s degree or master's Degree or Doctorate. • Certification/License Required: Physical Therapist License. • Physical Activities: Ability to lift a student up to a weight of 40 pounds without assistance; ability to perform a two-person lift for students over 40 pounds. Lumbar should be used for all lifts. • Proficient Skills: Written and Oral Communication, Planning, Organization.
JOB DUTIES: • Is present at work every day and arrives at assigned time. • Demonstrates an attitude and demeanor that contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the workplace. • Interacts in a professional manner with students, staff, and school/district leaders. • Performs appropriate assessment procedures. • Interprets assessment results to teachers, parents, and other appropriate personnel. • Uses a team approach to planning and treatment with school personnel, families, and agencies. Central Office 2 • Efficiently maintains accurate records and reports and files them on time. • Lifts, positions, transfers, and performs other special duties as required by identified students. • Administers physical therapy in accordance with the treatment plan as stated in the individual education plan (IEP). • Performs ongoing evaluation of treatment programs and adapts programs as necessary to maximize positive results. • Selects and manages adaptive equipment and/or assistive devices for use with the upper trunk, arms, and hands, and aids in the elimination of architectural barriers. • Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Learning Support. • Contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the workplace. • Meets the performance and behavioral expectations of the principal and the Director of Learning Support. • Lifts, positions, transfers, and performs other special duties using lumbar belts as required to meet the needs of moderately intellectually disabled, severely and profoundly intellectually disabled, and orthopedically impaired students. • Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, or criminal activity for which the employee becomes aware. • Performs other duties as assigned.
