Salary Range: $66,400 – $68,000/year

Description / Role Purpose

Birch Family Services is a leading provider of education, employment, and community support services for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities across New York City. This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of a residential facility, including staff supervision, treatment planning, and physical plant maintenance, to ensure high-quality care and support. The goal is to help emotionally disabled adults maximize functioning and prevent hospitalization.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure shift coverage; alert Program Coordinator when essential staff call out so appropriate coverage can be arranged
  • Communicate schedules and responsibilities clearly to staff, and monitor compliance through direct observation
  • Ensure behavioral support plans are implemented correctly by staff, including documentation in house and occurrence logs
  • Attend meetings with schools, day-treatment programs, and other stakeholders when needed; maintain professional communication and coordination
  • Manage clothing inventories monthly, oversee medication distribution, and coordinate medical appointments with nursing staff
  • Ensure fire drills are conducted regularly, and that clinical teams are informed of needed recreational supplies or programming
  • Comply with agency policies and participate in required meetings; maintain effective relationships across support, administrative, clinical, and supervisory teams
  • Understand and enforce incident reporting and abuse protocols, collaborating with Quality Assurance teams and supporting investigations when necessary
  • Act as backup for DCC and SS responsibilities to keep residents safe during staff shortages or absences
  • Provide training to new staff and handle other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or a related human services field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years working with a developmentally disabled population, preferably in a residential, health, or treatment setting
  • At least 3 years of administrative/managerial experience working with emotionally disabled individuals

Specialized Knowledge & Requirements:

  • Must complete a Medication Administration Course within 90 days of employment
  • Excellent management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Competency in written, verbal, and computational skills to document and present records according to program standards
  • Proficiency with basic computer usage and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with CRP population preferred
  • QDIP Certification preferred
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License required
  • Ability and willingness to earn SCIPR Certifications and promote competencies
